About This Role

As a Manager in the Engagement Consultation (EC) team, you will advise Deloitte engagement teams on auditor independence requirements and their impacts on professional services. This role involves navigating independence considerations for client service delivery and collaborating across various business functions.

Responsibilities

  • Advise Deloitte engagement teams on auditor independence requirements and their impacts on the professional services environment.
  • Work closely with Deloitte engagement teams to navigate independence considerations, ensuring compliance with applicable independence regulations.
  • Collaborate with Deloitte engagement teams across business functions (e.g., Consulting Services, Tax, Audit & Assurance) to broaden understanding of the firm's Multi-Disciplinary Model.
  • Apply professional judgment in analyzing and evaluating proposed client services and relationships against relevant auditor independence requirements.
  • Partner with ICN and engagement leadership to frame questions/issues, align on independence risks, and drive timely decisions.
  • Interact with client service leadership to understand independence questions/concerns and provide guidance on engagement-related independence matters.
  • Perform research and analysis, draft conclusions and communications, and strategize next steps in coordination with senior team members.
  • Interpret and implement new and existing regulations relating to permissible non-attest services for Deloitte US entities, providing advice to client-facing teams.
  • Participate in policy setting by performing research and drafting communications to increase awareness and understanding of independence rules.
  • Create and revise training courses and materials to address rule changes and new interpretations of existing rules.

Requirements

  • Bachelors' degree
  • 5-8+ years of related experience
  • Proficient in standard office-productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams)
  • Ability and willingness to learn and effectively use AI-enabled tools and emerging technology solutions
  • Deep experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders and direct interaction with senior leaders
  • Comfortable navigating nuances and complexities in sensitive or emerging areas
  • Strong communication skills across audiences and levels of seniority globally
  • Strong documentation and formal business writing skills
  • Open-mindedness, nimbleness, and agility
  • Positive attitude, initiative, good judgment, curiosity, and dedication to quality
  • Outstanding attention to detail, strong technical, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills

Qualifications

  • Bachelors' degree (preferably accounting, finance, business, compliance, or legal)
  • 5-8+ years of related experience, ideally in a professional services role and environment

Nice to Have

  • An understanding of Independence requirements for professional auditing firms
  • Experience in regulatory compliance, risk assessment and internal controls and interpretation of rules, regulations, and standards
  • Experience in public accounting
  • Strong understanding of Deloitte's businesses, service offerings, and how services are delivered
  • Knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP standards
  • Advanced degree in related areas such as finance, accounting, business, or law
