About This Role

This Manager will advise Deloitte engagement teams on auditor independence requirements, navigating compliance considerations, and helping deliver services confidently while adhering to applicable regulations. The role operates at the intersection of regulatory compliance and client service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Apply professional judgment in analyzing proposed client services and relationships against auditor independence requirements
  • Partner with ICN and engagement leadership to frame issues clearly, align on independence risks, and drive timely decisions
  • Interact with client service leadership to understand independence questions/concerns and provide guidance on engagement-related matters
  • Perform research and analysis, draft conclusions and communications, and strategize next steps with senior team members
  • Interpret and implement new and existing regulations relating to permissible non-attest services for Deloitte US entities
  • Provide advice and guidance to client-facing teams regarding independence rules
  • Participate in policy setting by performing research and drafting communications to increase awareness of independence rules
  • Create and revise training courses and materials to address rule changes and new interpretations
  • Work on special projects independently and collaboratively with PPMDs and engagement teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably accounting, finance, business, compliance, or legal)
  • 5 - 8+ years of related experience, ideally in a professional services role and environment
  • Proficient in the use of standard office-productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams, etc.)
  • Ability and willingness to learn and effectively use AI-enabled tools and emerging technology solutions
  • Strong research and investigative skills
  • Strong communication skills across audiences and levels of seniority globally
  • Strong documentation and formal business writing skills
  • Outstanding attention to detail, plus strong technical, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably accounting, finance, business, compliance, or legal)
  • 5 - 8+ years of related experience, ideally in a professional services role and environment

Nice to Have

  • An understanding of Independence requirements for professional auditing firms
  • Experience in regulatory compliance, risk assessment and internal controls and interpretation of rules, regulations, and standards
  • Experience in public accounting
  • Strong understanding of Deloitte's businesses, service offerings, and how services are delivered
  • Knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP standards
  • Advanced degree in related areas such as finance, accounting, business, or law
