HVDC Engineer

About This Role

This role will support and lead HVDC-related projects as an Electrical Engineer, assisting clients with technology selection, design studies, and specifications. The position also involves business development, bid preparation, and contributing to industry thought leadership within the energy sector.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients in HVDC/HVAC technology selection
• Perform conceptual, pre-FEED and FEED level design studies and/or drawings
• Develop converter station functional/technical specifications
• Liaise with converter station and HVDC cable OEMs on behalf of project owner/developers
• Witness FAT/SAT testing and provide other support on behalf of clients
• Work seamlessly with other project disciplines such as cable engineering, environmental/permitting, GIS, geotechnical & geophysics, civil
• Contribute to Jacobs global and North American HVDC business development, bid preparation, and initiatives to capture new HVDC pipeline
• Contribute to industry thought leadership and represent Jacobs at international conferences and committee meetings such as IEEE and CIGRE

Requirements

• Related experience and technical knowledge in electrical high-voltage engineering, with emphasis on HVDC

Qualifications

• Related experience and technical knowledge in high-voltage engineering with emphasis on HVDC, through past experience with consulting engineering firms, developers and/or direct exposure to OEMs.

Nice to Have

• Prior knowledge of electrical design/studies
• Prior knowledge of functional/technical specifications related to HVDC systems
• Prior knowledge of FAT/SAT commissioning related to HVDC systems
• Knowledge of the offshore wind market
