Housekeeper

About This Role

The Housekeeper assists in providing quality cleaning services to positively impact patient stay at a behavioral hospital, ensuring a clean and sanitized environment in accordance with established policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize all areas of the facility in accordance with established policies
• Clean and disinfect patients' rooms and baths daily
• Perform terminal cleaning after transfer or discharges 100% of the time
• Clean, empty, dust, sanitize nursing stations, non-patient care areas, laundry room, restrooms, sitting rooms, and dining rooms daily
• Dust and mop all hard floors; buff, strip, wax as needed for hard floors; shampoo carpets when needed; clean drapes
• Follow infection control procedures for isolation cleaning 100% of the time; use universal precautions 100% of the time
• Collect and distribute clean linen and contain soiled linen in proper containers
• Follow procedures for disposal of biohazard waste and other waste
• Clean, maintain, and monitor equipment in good condition at all times
• Report broken, defective patient care/room equipment; complete work request for repairs

Requirements

• Ability to read and write to understand chemical labels and complete inventories
• Minimum of six months previous hospital housekeeping or janitorial experience OR one year related experience
• Good communication skills
• Knowledge and skills to provide housekeeping services appropriate to age-related disability needs
• Ability and willingness to supervise and work cooperatively with others
• Working knowledge of Infection Control and Safety Principles
• Successful completion of CPR certification
• Successful completion of an Oceans approved behavioral health de-escalation program

Qualifications

• High school graduate preferred
• Minimum of six months previous hospital housekeeping or janitorial experience or a minimum of one-year experience related to this position.
