HOD of Topsides Piping

About This Role

This role involves providing overall technical leadership, governance, and people management for topsides piping engineering across FPSO projects and operations, ensuring safe, compliant, cost-effective, and constructible piping designs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Topsides Piping Engineering Department, including piping layouts and 3D modelling engineers, stress engineers, and designers
• Define and enforce piping design standards, specifications, and best practices
• Oversee piping engineering deliverables from FEED, EPC to commissioning
• Ensure compliance with Class requirements (DNV, ABS, BV etc) and international codes and offshore standards (ASME, ANSI, API, ISO, NORSOK, DEP etc)
• Review and Approve piping layouts, stress analyses, material selection, supports, and MTOs
• Manage inter-discipline coordination with process, mechanical, structural, E&I, Outfittingl, and safety teams
• Support and participate in HAZID, HAZOP, 3D model, and constructability reviews
• Provide technical oversight of contractors, vendors, and fabricators
• Drive standardisation, digitalisation, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Develop team capability through mentoring, training, and succession planning

Requirements

• 15+ years of piping engineering experience with strong FPSO / offshore topsides exposure
• Proven experience as Piping Discipline Lead / TA / Department Head
• Strong knowledge of piping design, stress analysis, materials, and offshore codes
• Hands-on experience with E3D / PDMS / SP3D

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• 15+ years of piping engineering experience with strong FPSO / offshore topsides exposure
