The Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Field Intern will join the Life Sciences North America Team in Summer 2026, focusing on worker safety during the design phase and overseeing construction operations at various job sites. This role involves integrating HSE into project processes, assessing contractors, and supporting the safe delivery of projects.
Responsibilities
- Address worker safety as early in the cost-influence curve as possible, through design phase influence
- Oversee and/or audit construction operations during company-sponsored travel to job sites
- Integrate HSE early into a project’s cost influence curve to influence Design, Sales and Procurements processes
- Assess HSE qualified contractors prior to award and prepare new vendors to work safely
- Set up and mobilize a project site, team, and logistics program successfully
- Manage and support contractors in the safe delivery of quality projects to clients
- Interact and problem-solve with construction site personnel, including Jacobs engineering and construction team members, subcontractor foremen, craft, and owner reps
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Fire Safety, Construction Management or related degree program
- Experience with Microsoft Products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Valid driver’s license with no major infractions
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a degree seeking program in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Fire Safety, Construction Management with HSE and/or a risk mitigation background or a related field
Nice to Have
- Authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship
- 3.0+ GPA
- At least a rising Senior (come summer 2026)
- A previous internship related to your field of study
- OSHA 10- or 30-hour Construction Safety course completion
- Familiarity with construction regulations and standards
