Health Record Specialist

About This Role

This role is responsible for processing and maintaining patient health information within the electronic medical record system for ambulatory clinics and hospitals, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

• Verify, import, prep, scan, and maintain patient health information in the electronic medical record accurately and timely
• Validate completeness of medical record content through document review and notify providers of incomplete status
• Review electronic medical records to ensure compliance with rules, regulations, and company policy
• Identify and assign deficiencies to appropriate providers to complete minimum documentation requirements
• Monitor incomplete medical record status and notify providers of pending and delinquent records
• Monitor work queues for indexing documentation into the electronic health record
• Document and transcribe appropriate health information in the patient health record
• Create new encounters and orders to accommodate patient health information as appropriate
• Communicate routinely with physicians, office staff, and other health care facilities
• Respond to requests for health information following established facility standards, state, and federal guidelines
• Process the release of health information/medical records for continuity of care purposes

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1 year relevant experience
