Guest Services Assistant Department Manager

About This Role

Lead and mentor the Guest Services team to provide exceptional customer service and ensure smooth daily operations within a retail grocery environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent guest service by handling interactions with professionalism and care, including greetings, answering questions, and addressing concerns
• Assist the Guest Services Manager with department operations, ensuring company policies and procedures are followed and goals are achieved
• Lead the team when the Manager is not present
• Train and develop associates, including cashier and bagger training, to foster team success and internal advancement
• Manage daily guest services activities, delegate tasks, and prioritize team efforts to maximize productivity
• Utilize labor tools to optimize schedules, balancing guest needs and labor budgets, and adjusting staffing levels as needed
• Ensure all quality standards are met, including quantity expectations at 100% by 10 am and 5 pm
• Enforce all company policies, including timekeeping accuracy, guest services protocols, and cleanliness/sanitation of the department
• Collaborate with Bookkeeping and Loss Prevention to maintain reporting accuracy and follow up on discrepancies

Requirements

• 1+ year of leadership or supervisor experience in retail, restaurant, or front desk
• High school education
• Strong communication skills
• Team-oriented approach to training and development
• Exceptional planning and organizational abilities
• Knowledge of safety requirements and company safety policies

Qualifications

• High school education
• At least 1 year of previous leadership or supervisor experience in a retail, restaurant, or front desk environment
