Grounds Person

About This Role

This role involves cultivating and maintaining landscapes outdoors, treating grass, trees, and plots with care, and working with a variety of landscaping equipment. The position requires a passion for landscaping and greenery, along with a focus on safety.

Responsibilities

• Manage activities for grass, flowers, and client relationships
• Use mowers, blowers, clippers, and edgers to create and prep soil for plant placement
• Set up and clean up job sites, and maintain trucks and machinery
• Work as part of a team
• Set up safety items including positioning cones and signs, and roping or taping off crew work areas
• Hand tools to climbers and receive tools from climbers using a rope to hoist them into trees
• Gather branches into piles, transport them to the chipper, and feed them into the chipper
• Unload tree trunks and chips at the appropriate facility
• Ensure all operations, job sites, employees, and the general public are safe
• Communicate effectively with other crew members and the public
• Work mandated overtime during holidays, after hours, and weekends as needed for emergencies

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Enthusiastic and dependable
• Able to safely work with equipment like power saws and cutters
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Able to perform very physical work
• Able to lift/carry 35-80 pounds often
• Understanding of landscape basics

Qualifications

• Previous experience is helpful, but must have an understanding of landscape basics.

Nice to Have

• CDL Driver’s License
• Bilingual (Spanish)
