About This Role

The Geometry Engineer leads dimensional project improvements on vehicles by analyzing complex parts, tooling, and designs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead dimensional project improvements on the vehicle through part, tooling, or design actions
  • Work with metrology center, plant, and validation team members to analyze complex parts and sub-assemblies
  • Work with complex tooling and assembly fixtures using various measurement systems
  • Supervise skilled trades (layout personnel)
  • Coach team members through data collection, analysis, and organization to ensure data integrity
  • Identify top issues and potential root causes from data
  • Work with production personnel, plant quality engineers, and supplier quality to recommend and validate proposed solutions
  • Verify effectiveness of corrective actions implemented through data analysis
  • Proactively monitor overall metrics
  • Work with cross-functional teams to drive variation reduction of critical product and process characteristics

Requirements

  • 1+ year of experience in Dimensional Control and/or Manufacturing Process Engineering
  • Understanding of metrology equipment for root cause diagnostics (Scanning, CMM, Laser Trackers, and Vision systems)
  • Knowledgeable in Gage and inspection standards
  • Strong understanding of GD&T
  • Strong understanding of the capabilities of stamping/assembly manufacturing processes
  • Experience solving dimensional and functional issues such as wind noise, water leak, squeak and rattle body interior and/or exterior
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex phenomenon and resolutions
  • Ability to work as part of a team approach to problem solving

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1+ year of experience in Dimensional Control and/or Manufacturing Process Engineering

Nice to Have

  • 3+ years of experience in Dimensional Control and/or Manufacturing Process Engineering
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proficient at the use of various data analysis techniques
  • Knowledge of basic statistics and SPC concepts as applied to manufacturing processes
