General Laborer (GMP)

About This Role

Perform a variety of general labor tasks for industrial sites, focusing on maintaining cleanliness and safety, and assisting various craft workers.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean job site by picking up tools and equipment and securing the area to eliminate potential hazards
• Handle and store materials according to safety guidelines
• Ensure proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed, notifying foremen or safety personnel of problems
• Clean and sanitize offices, meeting rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, dining areas, and public spaces
• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming
• Gather and empty trash throughout the facility
• Service, clean, and supply restrooms as needed
• Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment
• Mix cleaning solutions according to specifications using water, detergents, or acids
• Clean and restore building interiors damaged by fire, smoke, or water using commercial cleaning equipment
• Clean laboratory equipment, such as glassware and metal instruments, using solvents, brushes, rags, and power cleaning equipment
• Drive vehicles required for cleaning tasks, including vans, industrial trucks, or industrial vacuum cleaners
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
• Monitor building security and safety, including locking doors and checking electrical appliance use
• Notify managers regarding the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems
• Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties

Requirements

• Detail-oriented, flexible, and willing to take on non-routine cleaning and special projects
• Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
• Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing
• Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
