Food Service Technician

About This Role

This role is responsible for preparing and serving student meals and snacks while adhering to federal, state, and local nutrition program guidelines. The technician will maintain a clean and sanitary workspace and provide excellent customer service to all.

Responsibilities

• Properly handle and store all food and supplies
• Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen workspace
• Maintain a required system of accountability
• Prepare weekly projections to order food and supplies for menus
• Utilize correct measuring and serving utensils for accurate meal portioning
• Perform and document temperature/sanitation checks as required by law
• Ensure dishwashing is ongoing and completed to meet sanitation expectations
• Operate a cash register, make change accurately, balance and close in a timely manner (when assigned)
• Ensure all meals are served in a timely manner
• Work independently in all kitchen positions

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to obtain Certified Professional Food Manager Certification by start of second school term
• Ability to obtain State of Illinois Food Handler card within 30 days of employment

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one (1) year experience cashiering, customer service, cafeteria line server or related field, preferred.

Nice to Have

• Bilingual - Spanish/English (written/verbal)
• Experience in a commercial kitchen
• Minimum of one (1) year experience cashiering, customer service, cafeteria line server or related field
