About This Role

Provide fire protection engineering support for a multi-discipline engineering and design team, applying advanced knowledge of engineering principles to project assignments. This role involves researching, specifying, developing, designing, engineering, and testing fire and gas protective systems.

Responsibilities

  • Research and analyze client design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility.
  • Assess fire protective elements required by codes and standards to meet objectives.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop project scope, estimates, and schedules.
  • Review and approve project drawings, standards, and specifications.
  • Develop major equipment, material selection, and construction specifications.
  • Utilize computer-assisted engineering and design software.
  • Direct and coordinate construction, installation, and testing activities.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and laws.
  • Evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications.
  • Coordinate activities with other project disciplines for fabrication, operation, and installation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an ABET-accredited engineering discipline
  • 4-10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited institution
  • 4-10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry

Nice to Have

  • PE license
  • Responsible engineering charge of fire protection for a major industrial project
  • Advanced knowledge in multiple fire protection engineering competency areas
  • Ability to successfully delegate tasks
  • Experience with engineering for Cold regions or Arctic conditions
  • Offshore platform fire protection experience
  • Preparation and presentation of peer-reviewed articles
  • Performance-based design of audible and visible notification compliant with NFPA 72
  • Experience with fire protection of living quarters and camps
  • Experience working as part of project teams in multiple locations
  • P. Eng. licensure in Alberta or another Canadian Jurisdiction
