The Financial Analyst will provide financial direction and training to the generation team, influencing business decisions to drive growth, operational excellence, and process improvement. Key responsibilities include target setting, reporting, analysis, planning, and forecasting for corporate financial direction.
Responsibilities
- Provide direction and training to generation team partners and peers for insight on and influence of financial business decisions
- Drive growth, operational excellence, and process improvement through financial analysis
- Perform target setting, reporting and analysis, planning and forecasting, and corporate financial direction
- Provide financial leadership, planning, and support for organizational goals to meet corporate and business unit objectives
- Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and applicable laws and regulations
- Establish and maintain effective relationships and communications with generation partners, internal team, and corporate partners
- Act as a financial subject matter expert and financial liaison associated with business units
- Understand complex processes to translate and provide education to internal teams
- Identify gaps in documentation, training, and reporting
- Assist in creating reports to support financial analysis across the organization
- Analyze financial risks and opportunities and develop insights to influence the organization’s business decisions
- Analyze the business, identify issues and recommend solutions that improve financial or operational performance
- Prepare and report budgets and financial information
- Make recommendations for allocation of resources and identification of cost savings opportunities
- Develop 5-year budgets annually with the assistance of key stakeholders
- Lead and/or manage special projects as required
Requirements
- B.S./B.A. in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field
- Basic understanding of GAAP and FASB
- Knowledge of financial and accounting principles and procedures
- Familiarity with General Accounting Procedures and Corporate Guidelines
- Strength in communication and training for complex processes to peers and managers
- Firm grasp of key financial concepts (Net income, EPS, cash flow analysis, revenue requirements)
- Excellent computer skills, especially Oracle Projects, Oracle Planning, PowerPlan, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Strategic thinking and planning skills
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Creative analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated accounting and finance skills
Qualifications
- B.S./B.A. in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field
- 2+ years of budgeting, Finance, Accounting or similar experience highly desired
Nice to Have
- 2+ years of budgeting, Finance, Accounting or similar experience
- Prior Power Generation experience
- Experience of database systems, ERP, or similar experience
- Working knowledge of financial management information systems and tools (PowerPlan, Oracle Planning, Oracle Projects, Oracle AP, Maximo, etc.)
