About This Role

The Field Construction Manager will oversee all on-site construction activities, including electromechanical and civil work, in the power industry. This role ensures project execution aligns with safety, quality, cost, and schedule requirements for complex initiatives, collaborating with industry leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all field activities, including civil, mechanical, and electrical work
  • Monitor construction progress, comparing contractor schedules to project baselines
  • Lead daily coordination with contractors and conduct weekly progress meetings
  • Review contractor invoices, manage material delivery and inventory, and inspect work
  • Provide proactive field support and resolve construction discrepancies
  • Track change orders, RFIs, design modifications, and correspondence
  • Review and enforce contractor Health and Safety Plans (HASP)
  • Conduct daily safety briefings and weekly inspections
  • Review and update Environmental Management Plans
  • Assist in reviewing Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and monitor test completion

Requirements

  • Knowledge of substation/transmission/distribution systems
  • Experience with outage coordination, tagging procedures, and safety audits
  • Familiarity with NEC, NESC, OSHA, FERC, NERC, and CIP standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (ABET-accredited) or equivalent
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in construction management, testing and maintenance of electrical equipment, relay protection and control systems, field commissioning and troubleshooting, electrical engineering in field environments, and SCADA and automation systems
