About This Role

Join Washington County's Facilities, Fleet, & Parks Department to maintain and repair county buildings, grounds, and parks. Contribute to a safe environment and grow your skills while serving the public.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, construct, maintain, and repair County-owned buildings (nearly 45 buildings, over 1.9 million square feet), grounds, parks, and associated hard-scape
  • Work closely with an assigned technician to learn standard practices for Facilities Maintenance Technician I
  • Provide support to higher-level technicians (Facilities Maintenance Technician I)
  • Perform the full range of duties as assigned (Facilities Maintenance Technician II)
  • Contribute to a safe space for everyone within and interacting with the department
  • Respond to urgent work requests with professionalism

Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent OR ability to obtain GED within 1 year of hiring (for FMT I)
  • OR currently enrolled in a specialty trade skills training program (for FMT I)
  • OR completion of a building trade educational apprenticeship program (for FMT I)
  • OR two (2) years of training within a building trade and basic work experience in residential, commercial, or industrial building system maintenance or building construction (for FMT I)
  • High school diploma or equivalent (for FMT II)
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience performing journey-level work in a building trade and experience in residential, commercial, or industrial building system maintenance or in building construction (for FMT II)
  • Possess or have ability to obtain within sixty (60) days of hire a State of Oregon Limited Building Maintenance Electrician’s license (LBME), or equivalent (for FMT II)
  • Possess a driver's license valid in the State of Oregon and have an acceptable driving record

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent or ability to obtain GED within 1 year of hiring
  • Entry-level experience (0 years) required for Facilities Maintenance Technician I; 3+ years journey-level building trade experience for Facilities Maintenance Technician II
