Extended School Year Summer Program Educational Support Professional

About This Role

Assist special needs students across various environments within an Extended School Year Summer Program, implementing IEP goals, behavior plans, and academic support under the guidance of teaching staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist with specific student supports, individually or in small groups, guided by teaching staff in implementing IEP goals and behavior plans
• Provide student support services in all school settings, including classroom, recess, lunch, and transitions, guided by special education liaison and other professionals
• Support behavioral programs by collecting data, providing cues, offering motor breaks, and implementing behavior plans
• Support academic programs through re-teaching, reinforcing, reviewing, assessing, scribing, note taking, and data collection
• Work directly with students to model strategies, provide direct teaching of skills, and assess performance and progress towards goals
• Provide regular feedback to the Special Education Liaison on student progress and challenges with IEP goals
• Implement behavior intervention plans and facilitate social skills across various school settings
• Provide crisis intervention, including verbal de-escalation and physical intervention methods, to reduce risk of injury
• Adapt to varying needs of students receiving special education services
• Work in conjunction with classroom teachers to support learning experiences, focusing on students with IEPs and the broader group

Requirements

• Passion for working with children/students
• Experience working with students with social emotional disabilities
• Knowledge of Crisis Prevention and Intervention Strategies
• Physical agility and strength

Qualifications

• Associates Degree Preferred
