About This Role

Special Education Teachers are needed for the Extended School Year Summer Program to instruct students in small groups and individualized work for reading and math, aligning with IEP goals. This role involves developing students' abilities, assessing learning, and fostering a supportive classroom environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and instruct students in small groups and individualized work for reading and math per IEP goals
  • Write IEP Goals and Objectives
  • Demonstrate knowledge of principles, standards, and strategies for educating children established by the MA Department of Early Education and Care/DESE
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of district and school curriculum goals
  • Plan instruction based upon explicit goals regarding what students should know and be able to do
  • Employ a variety of instructional strategies that consider individual learning styles and performance levels
  • Assess student learning on a regular basis using multiple forms of formative assessment
  • Communicate student progress and development to parents
  • Provide written assessments, referrals and evaluations when necessary for students with special needs and participate in IEP meetings as required
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve curriculum and instructional effectiveness for all students

Requirements

  • Appropriate Massachusetts licensure
  • Experience with ABA

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree Preferred in Special Education
