Estimator

About This Role

Rycon Construction is seeking an experienced Estimator for their Washington D.C. office to assist with developing bids, estimating costs, and conducting market research for commercial construction projects nationwide.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the development of both lump sum bids and GMP estimates
• Participate in meetings and presentations with clients, architects and engineers
• Calculate quantity take offs and estimate costs and conceptual budgets for estimating construction projects
• Research and forecast material, labor, and equipment pricing for cost estimating projects
• Participate in gathering of data to support market condition research
• Enter calculated and researched data into computer utilizing specific cost estimating software programs
• Create scopes of work and bid packages of multiple trades
• Assist the estimating team with data conversions and analysis of cost estimating efforts
• Respond to common inquiries or issues from clients, regulatory agencies, or member of the business and general community at large
• Serve as bid lead and mentor other estimators

Requirements

• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience estimating commercial projects
• Experienced in quantity take-offs
• Ability to communicate effectively in person, on the phone, and through email
• Ability to read drawings and interpret specifications
• Proficient in Microsoft Project
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience estimating commercial projects

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of Washington D.C. market
• Relevant experience in new construction of office, multi-unit residential, higher education, warehousing and distribution and retail buildings
