Environmental Specialist - Waste and Water

About This Role

This role will support the environmental staff by implementing environmental programs, focusing on waste and water compliance. The specialist will develop an understanding of regulatory requirements, collect and interpret data, and ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations in a heavy industrial setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit water & waste related compliance reports
• Conduct water & waste quality assessments and ensure compliance with all applicable federal, NJ, and local regulations
• Liaise with regulatory agencies and represent the company during inspections and audits
• Monitor changes in water quality regulations and update company policies accordingly
• Provide training and guidance to staff on water & waste compliance and best management practices
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to water & waste analysis and compliance activities
• Serve as primary site specialist on hazardous waste management and DOT transport
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure environmental compliance and sustainability
• Collect, tabulate, and interpret data regarding waste and water numerical values
• Collect water & waste samples and send them to the laboratory for analysis

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in related science field
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power-point) and database usage
• Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related science field
• Preferred 3 years of experience; Entry level role, some experience with waste disposal and water treatment preferred
