Environmental Services Associate

About This Role

This role involves cleaning and sanitizing patient and public areas, managing waste, and ensuring proper stocking of supplies to maintain a safe and clean environment within a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Clean assigned patient and public areas daily
• Collect and remove trash and sanitize all surfaces
• Stock paper items, cleaning solutions, and other supplies as necessary
• Demonstrate complete knowledge of infection control and isolation procedures
• Operate cleaning equipment properly
• Utilize Bed Management system to maintain productive flow of bed throughput
• Utilize hand-held technology for tracking
• Collect and stage soiled linen for pick up
• Dispose of normal and biohazardous waste
• Clean and disinfect areas containing bodily fluids in accordance with facility standards
• Document all work performed

Requirements

• Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field
• Ability to maintain equipment and work areas in a clean and safe condition
• Able to communicate in English
• Basic computer skills and use of mouse and keyboard
• Ability to operate a computer using standard office software
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to interact with patients
• Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets, product labels, and various reports
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic
• Ability to follow oral and written assignments
• Full knowledge of basic environmental duties

Nice to Have

• High School Grad or Equiv
• Environmental services experience within a healthcare environment
• Housekeeping or custodial experience
• Knowledge of additional languages
