The Engineering Manager - MLOps & Analytics will lead an effective, distributed team, fostering their professional growth while ensuring high-quality software delivery within the machine learning space. This role involves technical leadership, code review, and strategic collaboration to achieve ambitious engineering goals for Canonical's MLOps solutions.
Responsibilities
- Manage a distributed team of engineers and oversee its MLOps/Analytics portfolio
- Organize and lead the team's processes to achieve objectives
- Conduct one-on-one meetings with team members and identify team health indicators
- Interact with the community and represent Canonical at conferences
- Review code produced by other engineers
- Mentor and grow direct reports, helping them achieve professional goals
- Work remotely with global travel for internal and external events
- Collaborate with other Engineering Managers, product managers, and architects to produce engineering roadmaps
Requirements
- Proven software delivery experience
- Professional Python development experience
- Deep understanding of machine learning concepts
- Experience designing and implementing MLOps solutions
- Exceptional academic track record from high school and university
- Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year
Qualifications
- Exceptional academic track record from high school and preferably university
- Proven track record of professional software delivery experience; professional Python development experience, preferably in open source; proven understanding of the machine learning space; experience designing and implementing MLOps solutions.
Nice to Have
- Hands-on experience with machine learning libraries or tools
- Track record of building automated machine learning solutions for the cloud
- Experience with building machine learning models
- Experience with container technologies (Docker, LXD, Kubernetes)
- Experience with public clouds (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
- Experience in the Linux and open-source software world
- Working knowledge of cloud computing
- Passionate about software quality and testing
- Experience working on a distributed team on an open source project
- Demonstrated track record of Open Source contributions
