Develop designs, layouts, and construction drawings for complex utility infrastructure systems, ensuring compliance with engineering standards. Perform field engineering and provide designs for both internal and external customers.
Responsibilities
- Develop designs, layouts, construction drawings, and a bill of material for complex systems related to utility infrastructure installation/removal/modification
- Interpret and apply engineering standards and memos
- Assist with technical consultation, plan developments and recommendations for customer and company systems and processes
- Evaluate effectiveness of current design processes and participate on teams (e.g., designing high voltage transmission and distribution circuits)
- Coordinate, track and monitor the electrical requirements of New Business projects to meet customer need dates
- Respond to customer needs for service by evaluating standard versus required facilities to develop charges
- Apply technical knowledge to promote a safe work environment and enhance customer satisfaction
Requirements
- Successful completion of the Technician Occupations Selection Systems (TECH) test (exempt with a bachelor's degree in engineering)
- Ability to analyze and interpret electrical and mechanical systems
- Knowledge and ability to apply problem-solving approaches
- Knowledge of construction, operations or engineering principles and practices
- Proficient Computer Drawing and Computer Assisted Design skills
- Good knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices necessary to perform routine assignments for a specific discipline installation, or service
- Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in a technical field, an associate's degree in a technical field, or equivalent education if non-degreed or a non-technical or engineering degree
- 0-3 years of technical experience with a bachelor's degree, 2-5 years with an associate's degree, or 5-7 years of technical experience if non-degreed
