The Triage Nurse (RN) supports weekly staffing schedules to optimize patient throughput for Endoscopy Units, primarily providing phone triage and patient communication for upcoming procedures, and offering on-site clinical support as needed. This role involves managing patient interactions via telephone and electronic messaging, offering clinical advice, and coordinating care for pre- and post-procedural concerns.
Responsibilities
- Triage clinical questions and concerns received via telephone calls and in-basket messaging.
- Provide clinical guidance, education, and support to patients based on assessment findings and established evidence-based protocols.
- Coordinate patient care by collaborating with the scheduling team to ensure appropriate booking and preparation for endoscopic procedures.
- Partner with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members to promote seamless communication and continuity of care.
- Participate in the development and implementation of individualized care plans to optimize patient outcomes and procedural readiness.
- Maintain thorough and timely documentation of patient encounters and communications in accordance with institutional and regulatory standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree Nursing
- Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) License
- 5+ years of recent clinical endoscopy nursing experience within both outpatient ambulatory and hospital settings (within the last 6 months required)
- 2+ years of recent triage experience managing outpatient and/or inpatient endoscopy patients (within the last 6 months required)
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including daily staff scheduling and workflow coordination
- Proven charge nurse or resource nurse experience in an Endoscopy setting within the last 6 months
- Strong GI knowledge and experience
- Adaptability and ability to work autonomously and as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Familiarity with endoscopy scheduling, procedural workflows, and triage best practices
- Flexibility and problem-solving skills to support coverage during staff absences
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Nursing required
- Minimum of 5 years of recent clinical endoscopy nursing experience within both outpatient ambulatory and hospital settings (within the last 6 months required). Minimum of 2 years of recent triage experience managing outpatient and/or inpatient endoscopy patients (within the last 6 months required).
