Join a team on the front lines of emergency veterinary care, handling a wide range of cases from minor to complex emergencies. Collaborate with doctors and team members to deliver gold standard, emotionally intelligent care for pets and their parents.
Responsibilities
- Treat every patient and person like they matter by keeping people and pets together through tests, treatments, and everything in between
- Deliver nursing care, treatments, and emotional support in critical moments, from triage to discharge
- Administer medications, monitor patients, and perform procedures like IVs, CRIs, and blood transfusions
- Communicate effectively with teammates and contribute to shaping care plans
- Perform CPR as a trained RECOVER professional
- Perform diagnostic procedures and imaging, sample collection, and tube placement
- Administer anesthesia, even for fragile patients
- Utilize advanced techniques including central lines, endoscopy, and ultrasounds
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Credentialed as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state the VEG practice is located
- 1+ years of experience in a veterinary technician role
- Basic computer skills and comprehension of practice management software and electronic medical record keeping
- Excellent communication skills and calm under pressure
- Fine motor skills for handling patients and medical equipment
- Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, and work on the floor
- Ability to lift up to 25 kg on own and support up to 40 kg with assistance
- Willingness to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as needed basis
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or higher in veterinary technology from an AVMA accredited program strongly preferred
- 1+ years of experience in a veterinary technician role; experience in emergency or specialty medicine preferred
Nice to Have
- Associate's degree or higher in veterinary technology from an AVMA accredited program
- Experience in emergency or specialty medicine
- VTS in ECC, internal medicine or anesthesia/analgesia
