About This Role

As an Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician, you will provide critical emergency veterinary care, collaborating with doctors and the team to deliver gold standard, emotionally intelligent care for pets and their parents. This role involves triage, treatments, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical care nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Treat every patient and person with care and empathy, providing support through tests and treatments
  • Deliver nursing care, treatments, and emotional support from triage to discharge
  • Manage IVs, CRIs, blood transfusions, and other advanced medical procedures
  • Communicate effectively with the team and contribute to care planning
  • Perform CPR according to RECOVER standards, utilizing advanced training
  • Handle diagnostics, imaging, sample collection, and tube placement
  • Administer anesthesia, even for fragile patients
  • Utilize advanced techniques such as central lines, endoscopy, and ultrasounds

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Credentialed as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in relevant state
  • 1+ years of experience in a veterinary technician role
  • Basic computer skills and comprehension of practice management software and electronic medical record keeping
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Fine motor skills for handling patients and medical equipment
  • Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, and work on the floor
  • Ability to lift up to 25 kg on own and support up to 40 kg with assistance
  • Willingness to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as needed basis
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with diverse personalities

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or higher in veterinary technology from an AVMA accredited program strongly preferred
  • 1+ years of experience in a veterinary technician role; experience in emergency or specialty medicine preferred

Nice to Have

  • Associate's degree or higher in veterinary technology from an AVMA accredited program
  • Experience in emergency or specialty medicine
  • VTS in ECC, internal medicine or anesthesia/analgesia
