About This Role

This position is focused on accelerating the learning of English for English language learners (ELLs) and their academic content, ensuring they meet classroom expectations and graduation requirements. It involves providing cross-cultural information about the American school system to LEP students and their families. This role also acts as a liaison between LEP students, their teachers, and families, while implementing ESOL program procedures.

Responsibilities

• Accelerate the learning or acquisition of English for English language learners (ELLs)
• Accelerate academic content of math, language arts, science, and social studies for LEP students
• Ensure LEP students achieve passing classroom expectations, passing SOL scores, and meet graduation requirements
• Provide cross-cultural information about the American school system and being a student in an American school for LEP students
• Serve as a liaison between the LEP student, all his/her classroom teachers, and their families and the school
• Implement all ESOL program procedures to comply with legal responsibilities
• Provide leadership and consultation as the second language expert/specialist to all staff in a school
