Director, Special Education - Programs and Development

About This Role

This role is responsible for administering and supervising the total special education program, focusing on programming and operations including eligibility, child find, post-secondary transition, and related services. The Director of Special Education – Programs and Development directly oversees various areas of programming and special education operations. Additionally, this position manages the Virginia IEP system, data and state reporting, Medicaid Billing, Extended School Year programming, and consultation on student discipline.

Responsibilities

• Administer and supervise the total special education program in collaboration with other Directors
• Oversee areas of programming and special education operations, including eligibility and child find, post-secondary transition, and related services
• Direct areas of development for priorities set forth in the strategic plan
• Oversee the Virginia IEP system, data and state reporting
• Manage related functions such as Medicaid Billing and Extended School Year programming
• Provide consultation around discipline of students with disabilities
• Lead a large team of staff to carry out these functions
