4th Through 5th Grade Teacher

About This Role

This role involves planning and implementing instructional programs for 4th and 5th-grade students, managing student behavior, and assessing achievement. The teacher will work to provide related educational services to foster student learning and development.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement an instructional program and provide related educational services for students in grades 4-5
• Manage student behavior and ensure an environment conducive to learning
• Assess and evaluate student achievement, modifying instructional activities as required
• Carry out a variety of student monitoring and control activities
• Work collaboratively with all stakeholders to prepare students to be critical thinkers, responsible digital citizens, innovators and visionaries, resilient individuals, and global collaborators
• Plan and deliver instruction in adherence to the Prince William County Curriculum documents
• Enforce policies and regulations as established by the Prince William County School Board
• Supervise pupil activities in buildings and on grounds during and after school hours, ensuring the conduct and safety of students

Requirements

• Knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment for grades 4-5
• Knowledge of child growth and development
• Knowledge of Prince William County Public Schools curricula and program of studies
• Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs
• Ability to plan and implement lessons using the Standards-Based Instructional Planning Process
• Ability to utilize multi-media and computer technology
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, parents, and administrators
• Skill in oral and written communication
• Eligible for Virginia Teacher Certification Program or licensure
• Ability to work in person and physically report for work on site
