Educator Patient Care Services - Education-Clinical

About This Role

This role is responsible for evaluating staff learning needs and providing ongoing education within patient care services using evidence-based research and hospital policies. The position involves developing and implementing orientation and competency curricula, fostering professional development, and promoting consistent standards of practice.

Responsibilities

• Utilize principles of adult learning, nursing process, and nursing theory to foster educational development of staff
• Develop, plan, and implement educational activities within area of expertise
• Provide role orientation development, engaging learners in critical thinking and problem solving
• Develop an annual educational plan based on nursing unit/group assessment
• Develop, coordinate, and evaluate basic and advanced nursing continuing education programs
• Ensure documentation of employee orientation, competency validation, and continuing education activities
• Support and assist staff in developing preceptor and teaching skills
• Identify creative, cost-effective competency verification and continuing education methods
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives in specialty areas
• Act as a formal or informal consultant to clinical and administrative staff

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science or Arts in related specialty
• Minimum of three years experience in clinical setting
• Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse license
• BLS certification as Healthcare Provider or equivalent
