About This Role

This role supports the Emergency Department unit and provides direct patient care, including vital signs, specimen collection, and basic first aid.

Responsibilities

  • Follow established departmental policies and procedures, quality improvement programs, and safety standards.
  • Provide personal care to patients, including obtaining vital signs, blood drawing, and glucose testing.
  • Assist the RN with patient care, including application of cardiac monitoring, simple dressings, and splints.
  • Order and maintain adequate levels of supplies for all areas of the ED, ensuring equipment availability.
  • Assist with patient flow activities such as loading and cleaning rooms, preparing patients for exam, and transportation.
  • Perform phlebotomy and EKGs.
  • Orient new staff.
  • Document accurately, timely, concisely, and legibly in the EMR.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 0-1 year work experience as EMT-B
  • Successful completion of accredited Emergency Medical Technician EMT course
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to make independent decisions
  • Ability to deal tactfully with staff, patients, family members, and public

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 0-1 year of work experience as an EMT-B is required.

Emergency Medical Technician EMT (Required)
