ED Tech

About This Role

The ED Tech provides direct patient care under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or designated healthcare professional, adhering to Bon Secours Mercy Health policies and regulations. This role involves basic patient care tasks, documenting patient information, and promoting quality and safety in patient care delivery.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care and comfort, including vital sign measurement, personal care, and hygiene
• Assist with patient mobility and perform lab draws, ECGs, and basic wound care under RN direction
• Complete patient rounding as assigned
• Provide 1:1 patient safety companion service when needed
• Act as a liaison between patient and nurse to report changes and concerns
• Provide high level customer service to patients, families, visitors, and employees
• Provide accurate, precise, timely documentation applicable to patient care
• Participate in handoff report of pertinent patient information and departmental needs
• Perform delegated tasks once competency has been validated
• Collect data within scope and complete patient screenings as applicable

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• BLS Basic Life Support certification (prior to patient care)

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Previous experience working as a Patient Care Tech, within a nursing support role or previous healthcare experience or second year nursing student from a Registered Nurse (RN) program (preferred)

Nice to Have

• Previous experience as a Patient Care Tech or in a nursing support role
• Previous healthcare experience
• Second year nursing student from an RN program
• Current certification for Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)
• Current certification for Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
• Current certification for Medical Assisting
