Driver, Trainee Hourly

About This Role

Learn the essential functions of a Driver, focusing on accurate and timely distribution of products to customer locations and gaining exposure to warehouse and operational functions.

Responsibilities

• Train side-by-side with a Driver Trainer to acquire necessary skills for driving
• Maneuver tractor to attach trailer and handle lines to secure
• Operate truck in a safe manner compliant with regulations and company policies
• Inspect tractor-trailer equipment for defects pre/post trip and submit DOT report
• Operate Driver Delivery Handheld (DDH) to document deliveries and exceptions
• Maintain driver log according to DOT regulations
• Assist Driver in unloading trailer and delivering product to customer premises

Requirements

• At least 21 years of age
• Must have CDL-A Permit
• Ability and willingness to select/load/unload and/or deliver all McLane products
• Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, reach, bend, squat, and stoop
• Ability to read and comprehend labels, instructions, and bills of lading
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations to verify quantities of product
• Ability to communicate with customers, management, and other teammates
• Ability to safely drive a tractor-trailer, use a 2-wheeled dolly, ramp, and PeopleNet devices

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
