Director of Accounting

About This Role

This role will lead the U.S.-based Accounting functions, owning the financial close and reporting processes to drive efficiency and ensure timely and accurate results for a complex, fast-growing multi-product company.

Responsibilities

• Lead the U.S.-based Accounting functions and implement an effective controllership framework
• Own monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate results
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team
• Lead the year-end audit and serve as the point of contact for the external audit team
• Strengthen global accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and governance structures
• Partner with the Controller on technical accounting areas like revenue recognition and capitalized software
• Contribute towards the financial strategy, opportunities, and growth of Rippling
• Manage financial processes and ensure systems and controls are robust as the company grows
• Provide support and recommendations to Rippling product and engineering teams and other senior stakeholders
• Keep Controller, CAO, and CFO informed of key financial reporting activities and risks
• Support global treasury operations as Rippling expands internationally
• Support global tax operations as Rippling expands its international footprint

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong technical accounting expertise with solid understanding of U.S. GAAP
• Proven ability to drive process improvements and optimize accounting operations
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize responsibilities
• Proven track record of effective communication and collaboration

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including established credibility as a trusted advisor on complex technical matters

Nice to Have

• Prior Big 4 experience
• Prior experience in fintech, financial services, or a regulated industry (high-growth environment preferred)
• Prior SOX experience
