Diesel Technician

About This Role

Ryder is immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Senior Level Diesel Technician to support their truck fleet in Jacksonville, FL. This role focuses on vehicle maintenance, diagnostic troubleshooting, and complex mechanical repairs.

Responsibilities

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
• Perform standard vehicle maintenance
• Perform preventive maintenance
• Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computer
• Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint
• Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
• Work in accordance with federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines
• Act as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
• Access and use internal and external maintenance documents

Requirements

• Basic tools
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines
• Routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
• Basic diagnostics and repairs (AC and electrical systems)
• Minimum of 2 years experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy duty and medium duty equipment
• Knowledge of and ability to apply computer skills (PC, Windows, mouse, etc.)
• Ability to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred, Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications preferred
• 3+ years relevant work experience, Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy duty and medium duty equipment
