About This Role

Ryder is immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Master Level Diesel Technician to support their truck fleet in Lihue, Hawaii, focusing on advanced vehicle maintenance and repair duties.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all OEM on-line diagnostic scan tool software courses as required by location fleet mix
  • Complete Instructor led OEM courses as required to support location fleet mix
  • Perform standard vehicle maintenance and preventive maintenance
  • Perform complex repairs with minimal (if any) support, utilizing diagnostic computers/software when applicable
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems with minimal (if any) support
  • Perform remote triage to with RCRC and customers to determine best solution to assist roadside breakdowns
  • Perform facility maintenance duties
  • Interact with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
  • Instruct and advise other technicians regarding maintenance repair procedures and diagnostics
  • Coach/Mentor other level technicians

Requirements

  • Basic tools
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines
  • Advanced skilled level repairs to include some major engine repairs, diesel after treatment or automotive fuel injection repairs
  • Ability to perform all T3 tasks
  • Demonstrated advanced analytical and repair skills in vehicle maintenance
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work shift work/weekends and on call duty
  • Ability to operate shop computers and diagnostic test equipment proficiently
  • Minimum tool requirement
  • Ability to road test vehicles as necessary
  • Demonstrated ability to coach/mentor/influence others
  • Ability to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
  • Pass a Ryder Drug Test
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Pass a Ryder road test
  • Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred, Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred
  • Four (4) years or more Relevant work experience, preferred
