Diesel Mechanic

About This Role

Ryder is seeking an experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician to perform maintenance and repair duties on heavy-duty vehicles, ensuring their operational reliability. This role involves diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electronic issues, preventive maintenance, and interacting with customers in Lihue, HI.

Responsibilities

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
• Conduct standard vehicle maintenance, component inspections, and repairs
• Execute preventive maintenance
• Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers
• Identify root causes of basic failures and perform necessary repairs
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints
• Utilize Shop Management System and electronic documentation
• Work in accordance with federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines
• Perform other support duties as required, including Service Island support

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Basic tools
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
• Ability to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred
• Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines
