Diesel Mechanic

About This Role

Ryder is immediately hiring a Master Level Diesel Technician to perform maintenance and complex repairs on a truck fleet in Glen Burnie, Maryland. This role involves diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electronic problems, mentoring other technicians, and ensuring compliance with safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Perform standard vehicle maintenance and preventive maintenance
• Perform complex repairs with minimal support, utilizing diagnostic computers/software
• Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems
• Perform remote triage with RCRC and customers to assist roadside breakdowns
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint
• Instruct and advise other technicians regarding maintenance repair procedures and diagnostics
• Coach/mentor other level technicians
• Advise shop management and other technicians on shop repairs
• Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation
• Work in accordance with federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines

Requirements

• Ability to perform all T3 tasks
• Demonstrated advanced analytical and repair skills in vehicle maintenance
• Effective interpersonal communication skills
• Basic computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Availability to work shift work/weekends and on call duty as required
• Required to operate shop computers and diagnostic test equipment proficiently
• Minimum tool requirement
• Ability to road test vehicles as necessary
• Demonstrated ability to coach/mentor/influence others
• Must pass a Ryder Drug Test
• Must pass a DOT physical
• Must pass a Ryder road test
• Must pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
• Ability to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire

Qualifications

• Demonstrated advanced analytical and repair skills in vehicle maintenance

Nice to Have

• ASE Certification in PM, Brakes, A/C, electrical, Electronics or ASE Master Mechanic
