Data Engineer

About This Role

Design, build, and optimize scalable and reliable data pipelines and platforms to support enterprise analytics and business decision-making. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business data requirements into technical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Support and enhance the enterprise data warehouse, ensuring data accuracy, availability, and efficient ETL operations
• Architect, design, and implement scalable on-premise and/or cloud-based data platforms
• Develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest, transform, and store structured and unstructured data
• Integrate data from various internal and external sources
• Design and implement optimized data models to support reporting, advanced analytics, and AI/ML initiatives
• Establish and maintain best practices related to data quality, metadata management, security, and regulatory compliance
• Support self-service analytics, real-time data processing, and advanced analytics use cases
• Partner with IT, analytics, and business teams to align data initiatives with organizational objectives
• Mentor junior team members and promote a data-driven culture
• Participate in project planning, task assignment, and progress tracking

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related technical roles
• Strong understanding of enterprise data warehouse concepts and relational data models
• Ability to quickly learn and integrate new data sources into existing data platforms
• Experience implementing cloud-based data platforms
• Proficiency with ETL/ELT tools
• Strong SQL skills
• Experience with modern data platforms
• Familiarity with API-driven data integrations
• Experience with BI and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker
• Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance standards
• Experience using ticketing/project management tools (e.g., Jira)
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related technical roles

Nice to Have

• Experience working within highly regulated industries
• Azure preferred for cloud-based data platforms
• ETL/ELT tools like Azure Data Factory, SSIS
• Modern data platforms like Databricks
• Exposure to big data processing and streaming technologies (e.g., Spark, Kafka)
• Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance standards (e.g., SOC2, GDPR, CCPA)
• Exposure to data mesh architectures, machine learning, or MLOps
