This role involves greeting and registering patients, managing their appointments, and verifying financial and insurance information for physician office visits, while providing excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining compliance with regulatory standards for accreditation bodies
- Assist patients with check-in and check-out processes and prepare medical records for physician visits
- Direct telephone calls and messages to appropriate persons and provide customer service
- Initiate scheduling process for diagnostic tests and referrals
- Verify financial information and insurance coverages
- Verify scheduled appointments and follow up on missed appointments per protocol
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED Equivalent
- Good computer skills and ability to operate basic office equipment
- Demonstrated good analytical skills
- Demonstrated positive attitude, professional courtesy and compassionate customer service
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to diffuse a stressful situation tactfully and professionally
- Ability to make good decisions in a stressful situation
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to multi-task
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED Equivalent Required
- 2 years of Healthcare/Medical - Physician's Office experience preferred; customer service, reception, filing or billing experience in a physician's office or hospital.
Nice to Have
- Certification as a Physician Office Business Administrator
- Customer service, reception, filling or billing experience in a physician's office or hospital
- 2 years of Healthcare/Medical - Physician's Office experience
- Ability to apply medical terminology as it relates to patient visit and future appointments
