Customer Service Representative

About This Role

This role involves greeting and registering patients, managing their appointments, and verifying financial and insurance information for physician office visits, while providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining compliance with regulatory standards for accreditation bodies
• Assist patients with check-in and check-out processes and prepare medical records for physician visits
• Direct telephone calls and messages to appropriate persons and provide customer service
• Initiate scheduling process for diagnostic tests and referrals
• Verify financial information and insurance coverages
• Verify scheduled appointments and follow up on missed appointments per protocol

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED Equivalent
• Good computer skills and ability to operate basic office equipment
• Demonstrated good analytical skills
• Demonstrated positive attitude, professional courtesy and compassionate customer service
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to diffuse a stressful situation tactfully and professionally
• Ability to make good decisions in a stressful situation
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Ability to multi-task

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED Equivalent Required
• 2 years of Healthcare/Medical - Physician's Office experience preferred; customer service, reception, filing or billing experience in a physician's office or hospital.

Nice to Have

• Certification as a Physician Office Business Administrator
• Customer service, reception, filling or billing experience in a physician's office or hospital
• 2 years of Healthcare/Medical - Physician's Office experience
• Ability to apply medical terminology as it relates to patient visit and future appointments
