Critical Environment Technician

About This Role

Maintain critical infrastructure in Microsoft's datacenters to ensure continuous operation of cloud services, focusing on safety, equipment maintenance, and system operations.

Responsibilities

• Understand, follow, and ensure safety and security requirements are met in accordance with AHJ regulations and Microsoft requirements
• Provide necessary escort to third-party contractors and vendors, ensuring work starts and completes safely
• Perform troubleshooting of equipment and systems independently within trained disciplines
• Prepare and submit required reports, and develop MOPs and SOPs to ensure safe and reliable execution
• Perform various types of maintenance (planned, predictive, corrective) and repairs on specific equipment
• Safely respond to and stabilize abnormal conditions within required timeframes using emergency operating procedures
• Utilize internal computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to track equipment assets and complete work order requests
• Perform monitoring and physical inspection of critical environment-related facility equipment and building for unsafe or abnormal conditions

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
• Ability to pass Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
• 1+ year(s) mission critical services work/applied learning experience OR equivalent
• 1 + year(s) experience with knowledge and understanding of the critical electrical and mechanical systems of a facility and their interdependencies

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
• 1+ year of mission critical services work/applied learning experience or equivalent, AND 1+ year experience with critical electrical and mechanical systems of a facility

Nice to Have

• Associate's Degree or technical trade certification OR higher-equivalent education
• 2+ years mission-critical services experience (with Associate's Degree/certification) OR 3+ years mission critical services experience (with High School Diploma)
