Crane Operator

About This Role

Operate cranes and heavy equipment for a multi-faceted construction firm, primarily in Maryland and Virginia, focusing on heavy civil projects, concrete pouring, and pile driving. The role requires adherence to safety protocols and federal contractor compliance.

Responsibilities

• Manipulate hand and/or foot controls to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement according to instructions
• Observe load hookup and determine safety of load
• Direct the placing of cribbing for outrigger to prevent capsizing
• Perform preventative maintenance, clean, lubricate and maintain crane and hoisting mechanism
• Inspect crane daily for defective parts and record date and malfunction in a log
• Read and interpret load charts to determine safe operating capacity
• Direct the set up and dismantling of the crane
• Drive piles

Requirements

• NCCCO certification (TLL and LBC)
• 3 years operating heavy equipment including hydraulic boom (rough terrain) and friction truck and/or lattice boom crawler
• Experience with concrete pouring and buckets
• Reliable transportation

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED preferred
• minimum 3 years experience operating cranes and heavy equipment, including hydraulic and friction cranes and/or crawler cranes (18 ton to 100 ton capacity), concrete pouring, clamming, and hookwork

Nice to Have

• Pile driving experience
