Crane Operator

About This Role

Operate Andritz Portal Cranes to manage log inventory and supply the mill, ensuring safe and efficient operation of equipment in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate the Andritz Portal Cranes to unload and place logs into Logyard inventory
• Keep the mill supplied with logs from inventory
• Maintain safe and consistent operation of equipment throughout different areas
• Operate the mill's gantry crane, including electric controls for movement and clam shell bucket positioning
• Work closely with Slasher Operators to supply logs for debarking and stranding
• Learn to operate Portal Cranes, Strander Area and Loader Operations to produce quality products
• Operate log handling equipment as needed to maintain wood to slashers
• Provide ground support for production area while maintaining a safe and clean working environment
• Work in high (up to 80 ft) and confined spaces for up to 12hrs
• Communicate effectively and respectfully with other team members in a team-based environment

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• One year or more of experience in industrial manufacturing
• Experience using a computer or tablet for documentation and/or record-keeping functions

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• One year or more of experience in industrial manufacturing

Nice to Have

• Experience working in lumber or wood product industries
• Experience operating Portal Gantry Cranes
