About This Role

Provide armed security services to courthouses under the USMS contract, performing duties such as entrance control, roving and stationary patrols, escort services, traffic control, and enforcing federal law.

Responsibilities

  • Perform entrance control by operating security screening equipment to detect weapons and contraband
  • Patrol court facilities and grounds in accordance with applicable post orders
  • Stand guard at stationary posts, monitoring security equipment, courtrooms, and judge/jury rooms
  • Provide armed escort services for judges, court personnel, jurors, and other designees
  • Direct traffic and control lights on court facility properties where applicable
  • Enforce federal law, including detaining individuals attempting unauthorized access or committing unsafe acts
  • Prepare reports and records regarding contract performance issues, accidents, and unlawful acts
  • Secure unattended courtrooms, inspect courtrooms prior to proceedings, and test security devices
  • Provide a security presence in the courtroom and enforce federal law and judicial orders

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3+ years verifiable experience as a certified law enforcement officer or military equivalency within the last 7 years
  • Experience must have included general arrest authority
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Ability to understand, explain, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, directives, and procedures
  • Safe driving record for the past five years
  • Clearance from the Department of Justice
  • Completed or graduated from certified Federal, state, county, local or military law enforcement training academy (with certification)
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check
  • Meet medical standards as specified by the United States Marshal Service (USMS)

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • At least three (3) calendar years of verifiable experience as a certified law enforcement officer or its military equivalency, with all three (3) years occurring within the last seven (7) years and including general arrest authority
