The Court Clerk Specialist independently performs complex legal and administrative support work for the Clerk of Superior Court in Yuma County, ensuring adherence to legal and court procedures. This role involves documenting court proceedings, maintaining official records, and providing essential support to judicial officers. Responsibilities span civil, criminal, domestic, and juvenile cases, requiring a working knowledge of legal and court procedures.
Responsibilities
- Attend all court hearings and trials in assigned judicial division
- Review, update, and bring case files and documents to court
- Call cases and swear witnesses
- Prepare minutes of each hearing outlining court orders and directives
- Enter data into official court record/recording systems (AJACS/JOLTS)
- Manage, coordinate, and provide paperwork associated with courtroom activities
- Control, oversee, and manage exhibits submitted during court proceedings
- Respond to questions and inquiries at the counter, by telephone and in writing
- Accept and enter filings, documents, and papers for new or existing cases
- Record judgments, rules, orders, and other judicial proceedings of the court
Requirements
- Working knowledge of legal and court procedures
- Ability to key at least 50 words per minute
- Ability to pass criminal background checks
Qualifications
- Associate degree from an accredited institution
- 2 years progressively responsible experience in an office setting, including 1 year of experience in a legal office, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
