This Cost Engineer position develops direct material and tooling costs for Electrical and Electronics components using activity-based costing. The role involves supporting Stellantis component cost methodologies and providing technical cost evaluation services to worldwide teams for projects through various life cycle phases.
Responsibilities
- Develop component costs for new programs using cost engineering estimates and bottom-up should cost calculations
- Provide Engineering support during vehicle development for target achievement (Design to Cost)
- Develop tooling costs for new programs
- Provide purchasing support during supplier negotiations through gap analysis of supplier’s price breakdown detail
- Support Global Cost Initiative, Worldwide Component Cost comparisons/studies, Benchmarking and Value Optimization activities
- Work closely with Engineering, Buyer, other CTPC functions, Finance and supplier representatives
- Maintain understanding of global domain of infotainment and HPC (High Process Computer) technologies
- Assist worldwide teams with technical services to estimate component prices for new technologies
- Research relevant market trends, industrial standards, and innovations
- Perform Competitive Benchmarking and suggest value optimization ideas to programs
- Identify potential cost optimization opportunities and support technical cost reduction activities, including supplier visits
- Provide global component cost comparison analysis within the Cost Engineering Community
- Build and maintain techno-economical competences and model plant specificities for infotainment and HPC/Radio/Infotainment technologies
- Evaluate and negotiate ED&D with suppliers
- Work with Suppliers and solutions providers to influence and align their future roadmap with Stellantis
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering or related scientific field
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the Auto industry
- Excellent communication skills and ability to create high quality presentation materials and reports
- High level of organization and ability to track many part numbers and complex parts
- Proficient in MS Office suite of tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
- Ability to interface with all levels of the enterprise, across multiple organizations and regions
- Basic component knowledge
- Understanding of global domain of infotainment and HPC (High Process Computer) including SoC/SiP, memories, SW capability, WiFi/BT, SGW, up-integration
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering or related scientific field
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the Auto industry
Nice to Have
- Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related scientific field
- Working knowledge of component development and steps to deliver a solution
- Familiarity with Cost Model elements and Activity Based Costing for component cost development
- Experience in production facilities and knowledge of how electronic parts are made
- Working knowledge of software development and steps to deliver a solution
