About This Role

As a Tax Manager specializing in Methods, Credits & Incentives (MCI) and Research & Development (R&D) Tax Credit, you will provide expert tax advice, manage R&D projects, and contribute to business development, ensuring compliance with firm standards and successful project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with client visits, facility tours, investigation of relevant facts, and analysis of accounting information
  • Prepare cost lead schedules, cost summary schedules, and appropriate tax computations
  • Prepare written reports summarizing findings for R&D tax credit projects
  • Manage various project tasks concurrently, overseeing the overall project and deliverables
  • Support business development activities including identification, proposal development, and other pursuit activities
  • Supervise R&D projects and ensure they are conducted in accordance with firm standards
  • Research tax issues and conduct fieldwork
  • Participate in sales and marketing efforts

Requirements

  • Six to ten years of experience in R&D tax credits
  • Minimum of four years of experience in Accounting or Tax in public accounting or consulting
  • CPA or JD/active license required
  • Prior project management experience
  • Strong understanding of federal and some state R&D rules and relevant court cases
  • Intermediate understanding of tax return mechanics
  • Experience with amending tax returns
  • Ability to manage time, multiple engagements, and meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel to various client sites

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field; Masters or Ph.D. in Economics, Statistics, Public Policy, Mathematics, Business, Finance, Financial Engineering, Management Science and Engineering, Financial Mathematics, Industrial Engineering or Operations Research preferred
  • Six to ten years of experience in R&D tax credits; open to Fixed Asset or Tax Accounting Method experience, with a minimum of four years in Accounting or Tax in public accounting or consulting
