Corporate Counsel

About This Role

Join a lean legal team at a fast-growing e-commerce company, providing broad legal support across multiple teams, advising on product development, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws, while mitigating risk.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial agreements including SaaS, professional services, consulting, data processing, NDAs, and master services agreements
• Act as a strategic legal partner to Product, Engineering, and Design teams, advising on product development, launches, and new features
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws and mitigate risk related to product development
• Provide practical, solutions-oriented guidance on contracting, compliance, privacy, consumer protection, advertising, and promotions
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders including InfoSec, Compliance, Operations, Product, Engineering, and Finance to drive transactions to completion and align on risk management
• Manage outside counsel relationships, reviewing filings, research, and advice
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to e-commerce, marketplaces, content moderation, and digital consumer protection
• Advise business teams on emerging legal and regulatory developments

Requirements

• J.D. degree
• Active member in good standing of at least one U.S. state bar
• 5+ years of relevant legal experience
• Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
• Strong judgment and communication skills

Qualifications

• J.D. degree
• 5+ years of relevant experience in a law firm or in-house legal department (experience with venture-backed, e-commerce, or technology companies is a plus)
