Prepare nutritious, high-quality meals with a hospitality focus for residents, ensuring timely service and adherence to all regulations and company standards.
Responsibilities
- Maintain system to ensure timely meal services
- Check daily menu and special events calendar for necessary food and supplies
- Prepare meals meeting nutritional requirements and appetizing in appearance
- Garnish plates to enhance overall dining experience
- Prepare food based on standardized recipes
- Make only authorized substitutions
- Season food appropriately
- Serve food based on established portion controls
- Assist in preparation of special meals and for special events
- Estimate portions and utilize leftovers appropriately to reduce food costs
- Operate kitchen within state and county regulations including sanitation, food storage, recordkeeping, food temperatures, portion sizes, chemical usage/storage
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently: steamer, oven, grill, meat slicer, mixer, grinder, dishwasher, etc.
- Maintain cooler and freezer properly: dates and labels food, no food on floor, etc.
- Assist with putting up stock on delivery days
- Assist with daily kitchen duties: washing pots/pans, putting up stock, removing trash and boxes, cleaning steam table and checking water levels
- Complete daily cleaning assignments
- Maintain a clean and sanitized work environment
- Follow local and state handwashing procedures to ensure food safety
- Assist with supervisory duties in absence of Dining Services Director
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 year scratch food preparation experience
- Prior experience regularly preparing meals for large groups
- ServSafe certified
