About This Role

The Continuous Improvement Leader will accelerate operational excellence at the Castrol plant in Baton Rouge by leading the site's CI roadmap. This role involves structured project management, problem-solving, and frontline engagement to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and reduce losses. The leader will also embed sustainable ways of working and ensure improvements endure through established standards.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the site OEE improvement plan across blending and packaging lines, establishing loss trees, setting targets, and driving weekly OEE reviews.
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and defect elimination for chronic and acute losses, applying 5 Whys/fishbone and formal RCA methods to close corrective actions.
  • Plan and deliver CI projects (OpEx/CapEx enablement) using stage-gated execution, clear charters, and benefits tracking, coordinating with relevant departments.
  • Standardize and sustain improvements by converting them into SOPs, centerlines, CILs, and checklists, embedding visual management and verifying alignment.
  • Drive operating team and safe work execution in partnership with Operations and HSSE, ensuring improvements conform to Control of Work requirements.
  • Develop people and culture by coaching frontline leaders/technicians in problem-solving, statistical thinking, and basic reliability tools, and facilitating kaizen events.
  • Partner with data/OEE tool owners to improve data integrity, automate dashboards, and ensure accurate reason coding for loss stratification and action.
  • Ensure improvements are delivered in conformance with bp’s Operating Management System, including Control of Work and safe work practices.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related)
  • 7+ years manufacturing CI leadership in high mix, high throughput operations with a track record of OEE improvement
  • Proficiency with 5 Whys, fishbone/Ishikawa, and a formal RCA methodology
  • Experience leading multi-field projects from charter through startup with clear benefits realization
  • Proficiency with Lean/TPM toolkit: SMED, centerlining, standard work, 5S, visual management, AM/PM, mistake proofing
  • Comfortable with OEE systems and BI tools, able to translate data into prioritized actions and verify results
  • Solid understanding of Control of Work / Permit to Work, isolations/LOTO, and Management of Change in an industrial environment

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related)
  • 7+ years in manufacturing CI leadership in high mix, high throughput operations (FMCG/process/packaging preferred) with a track record of OEE improvement.

Nice to Have

  • MS in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related)
  • Proven knowledge of 12 loss model and data integrity
  • Ability to integrate HSSE reviews and readiness gates
